How cold should my refrigerator actually be?
About 37 degrees in the fresh food section, zero in the freezer. Set a thermometer in a glass of water on the middle shelf overnight. If the readings drift more than a few degrees, something in the cooling or control system needs a look.
Why does frost keep building up in my freezer?
Frost usually means the defrost cycle isn't running. The heater, thermostat, or timer may have failed. A torn door gasket lets humid air in too. We test the defrost components directly instead of guessing from the frost pattern.
Is it worth repairing a fridge that's ten years old?

Does hard water really hurt an ice maker?
