How long should a new ice maker take to start producing?
Give it 12 to 24 hours after installation or a reset. The freezer has to hold temperature first. If the bin is still empty after a full day and the line is open, something in the fill or harvest circuit needs testing.
Why does my ice smell bad even after I dump the bin?
Ice picks up odors while it sits. A spent filter, an open food container, or a slow harvest cycle will all do it. If the smell comes back within days of a fresh batch, we check the filter, the water line, and the cycle timing.
Is hard water really hurting my ice maker?
Yes. Scale coats the mold and fill tube, so cubes stick and the ejector strains against them. It narrows the inlet path too, which shrinks cube size. Descaling plus a valve check usually brings output back to normal.
Can you repair a standalone or under-counter ice machine?
We work on built-in and under-counter residential units as well as refrigerator ice makers. Those have their own pumps, condensers, and drains, so we look at water flow, the cutter grid or mold, and the drain path while we're there.
Should the whole ice maker be replaced or just a part?
